MR. IRA SLAVIT: New York law provides special protection for workers on the outside of high rise buildings washing windows or cleaning the exterior of the buildings. It's Section 202 of the Labor Law.
What it does very importantly is it makes owners of buildings and some others responsible for violations of worker safety regulations, even if the owner himself doesn’t or isn't the one who didn't follow the regulations. It's what's called a non-delegable duty. And the worker may have a valid lawsuit against the owner, even if the owner is not directly involved.
It's important that you hire an attorney who has access to the right kinds of experts who are familiar with the laws and regulations so that you are able to get full compensation for all of the injuries that you have sustained in that type of accident, be it medical expenses, loss of earnings, pain and suffering. Please contact Levine & Slavit should we be able to be of assistance to you in this type of accident.
