MR. IRA SLAVIT: It's been said you should try to stay out of a hospital because you might get sick there.
In fact this is so true that Medicare has decided that it will no longer pay for certain bad outcomes or complication that patients suffer while in hospitals, events they term "never" events. These complications include: bed sores; objects left behind during surgery, such as sponges; air embolisms; urinary tract infections; falls; bed sores; catheter infections; blood incompatibility. In fact, Medicare may be adding to the list in the future. By the time you see this video, they may have already done so.
