MR. IRA SLAVIT: In New York State we have the New York No-Fault Law, which if you're not familiar with that, essentially provides coverage for medical bills, hospital bills, physical therapy bills and lost wages without the person having to prove that anyone is at fault.
And at Levine & Slavit we make it a point to assist our clients to be sure that the paperwork is filed on time. There's a very short 30-day time limit from the date of accident to file the application for no-fault benefits. And if the injured person does not file timely, they may not have their bills covered by insurance and may end up being personally responsible.
