Allstate Runs Ad Touting a New Years Resolution That Can Keep You From Losing Your Teenager By SEO Admin on January 29, 2009

A print advertisement placed by Allstate in newspapers takes information from The Allstate Foundation Report on Teen Driving, 2005, and puts it ina form called "Parent-Teen Driving Contract". The contract lists several topics with corresponding statistics from the Report. For each topic, there is a blank space for "Agreement" to be filled in, and another blank space for "Consequences" to be filled in. At the bottom of the contract is a space for the Teen Driver's signature, and another for the Parent/Guardian signature. An interactive contract can be downloaded from the Internet. The topics and their corresponding statistics include the following: Speeding and Tickets - In 2005, speed-related crashes accounted for 44% of fatalities among 15-20 year olds; Crashes - Sixteen-year-old drivers have crash rates that are three times greater than 17-year old drivers and five times greater than 18-year old drivers; Drinking and Driving - In 2005, drunk driving caused one of every four fatal teen crashes; Cell Phones, Music, Other Distractions - Talking on a cell phone while driving gives you the reaction time of a 70-year old; Time of Day - Half the teens that died in car crashes in 2005 were killed between 3 P.M. and midnight. Number of Passengers - The presence of just one more male teen in a car doubles the chance of a fatal crash; Seatbelts - Using lap/shoulder belts can reduce the risk of dying in a car crash by 45%; Grades - Good grades are important for a teen's future. Consider ways to link driving privileges to good grades. The lawyers at Levine & Slavit have decades of experience handling personal injury claims including those involving auto accidents.
