BlendJet Recalls 4.8 Million Portable Blenders Due to Defects By Levine & Slavit PLLC on January 25, 2024

BlendJet has issued a recall for approximately 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 portable blenders after it was found they had severe defects that could result in burn and laceration injuries. Hundreds of people have been reported injured as a result of these defects, including those resulting from being cut by the blades to people harmed by accidental fires. If you own one of these products, you should immediately cease using them and contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

What is BlendJet?

BlendJet is an electronics and food manufacturer that primarily manufactures and sells blenders, with its principal product being the BlendJet 2 portable blender. It also sells a number of accessories intended to be used in conjunction with the blender, as well as shakes, protein powders, and other food products. The stated goal of the company is to enable healthy eating by making it easier to consume shakes and other similar foods on the go.

What Are These Blenders?

The BlendJet 2 portable blender is essentially what it sounds like: a blender that operates off of a battery, allowing it to be easily transported and used outside of a normal kitchen environment. It can be charged via a USB-C cable, and advertises itself as being self-cleaning among its many features. Approximately 4.8 million of these portable blenders have been sold.

Why Have They Been Recalled?

A recall was issued for these blenders after it was found they had significant defects that could potentially result in burn injuries, lacerations, or even accidental fires. This is due to two separate defects: first, the blender can potentially overheat, causing people to get burned when touching it, and potentially starting a fire if it makes contact with flammable materials. Second, it has been reported that the blades on the blender can break off during use, potentially cutting people who use it.

What Should You Do?

If you have a BlendJet 2 portable blender, you should cease using it immediately and contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If you have been injured while using one of these products, your first priority should be to seek immediate medical attention. After that, however, you should contact a lawyer with experience handling personal injury suits, who can help you get the compensation you deserve.
