MR. LEONARD SLAVIT: We handle a number of cases involving passengers on buses. Of course there are a lot of buses in the city of New York and elsewhere. Cases involve passengers who are injured. Sometimes it's a situation where the passenger pays the fare and before getting a seat, the bus starts off in a violent manner, causing injury to the passenger. Sometimes it's a violent stop throwing passengers from the seat onto he floor.
We also have cases where the bus is involved in an accident with another vehicle or another object. In addition, you have bus passengers who are injured getting onto the bus or leaving the bus. We've had situations where someone leaving the bus is struck by the door, causing injury.
Sometimes where the bus doesn’t stop at a designated bus stop, causing injury. And times where the passenger getting off the bus, the bus stops and the exit door is in line with a broken condition on the sidewalk, for which the bus company would be responsible.
There are many different ways passengers have problems and we look at the various aspects, determine if we can be of us, if the client has a viable case and we're happy to help under those circumstances. It's just as interesting how many people do have these incidents involving buses and are entitled to compensation. And also, in many instances, no-fault benefits as well.
